Restore The Constitution We Have By Learning What It Means!

Our Constitution really was a 5000 Year Miracle.
The attached pdf chart illustrates the Miracle. You can download it and print it out.
Rights come from God, and the purpose of civil governments is to secure the rights God gave us.
Accordingly, WE THE PEOPLE ordained and established the Constitution for the United States of America wherein we created the federal government.
A “federal government” is an alliance of Sovereign States associated together in a “federation” with a national government to which is delegated supremacy over the States in specifically defined areas only.
These specifically defined areas are the “enumerated powers” WE delegated to the three branches of the national (“federal”) government.
The States and The People retained all other powers.
The pdf chart depicts the elegant simplicity of our Constitution; lists the few and defined powers WE delegated to the national government for the Country at Large; shows how the powers WE delegated to the national government secure specific God given rights; and shows the retention of all other powers by the States and The People.
Our Constitution isn’t broken! Our Constitution isn’t outdated. The problem is that WE – who are “the natural guardians” of the Constitution – didn’t bother to learn it. Since we didn’t bother to learn it, we elected representatives who also hadn’t bothered to learn it. And so everyone ignores it.
And we abandoned the religious and moral foundation of our Constitution.
It is our own ignorance of our existing Constitution, and the collapse of religion and morality which have brought us to the brink of destruction.
Our Constitution doesn’t need “fixing”! The only Amendments we need are to repeal some of the previous Amendments we got deceived into approving.
WE THE PEOPLE need “fixing”. Restoration of our religious and moral foundation and our Constitution is the Answer to the Healing of our Land.
Let the Restoration begin with you. Share this Article. Print out the chart. Study it. Flesh it out with your own personal readings of the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bible. Have study groups in your home. You can become a “guardian” of the Constitution. PH

And to help remedy this deficiency I for one plan to have a public reading of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution including the first ten amendments in our city park on September 17.

Consider printing out, copying, and handing out the Chart at this event. Perhaps someone else will donate and pass out pocket copies of the Declaration & Constitution. I wrote the Chart to show people how simple & elegant our Constitution is – and to stress how limited are the purposes we delegated to the federal government!

Thank you Publius huldah. I have been saying the same thing for over 10 years in my little circle here in Oregon. We even have statutes that mandate the Constitutions being taught in school but they are ignored. The police when they take the oath to abide by the Constitutions and they do not understand or know of its provisions, commit a class A misdemeanor of false swearing. There are more crimes committed in our courtrooms and on the streets of our cities and counties in a day by judges, police and politicians then by all the criminals in a year. Doug.

I know. We have to change it if we can. It is truly astonishing that people will take an oath to support something they never read. But they think they can delegate that responsibility to the Courts. The Courts will tell them what’s what. So they opt for blind obedience.
But Alexander Hamilton said The People are “the natural guardians” of the Constitution. So it is OUR JOB to hold the feet of ALL elected and appointed officials to the fire when they stray one word from the Constitution.

As usual I find myself in total agreement with you, PH. Can’t say I’m very optimistic that it will happen, though. Younger people are on summed with earning a living, raising a family and living day to day with little interest in the state of the nation. Even those exceptional few who are informed are swamped with the cares of life to the point they have little time or energy to spend in changing the nation.

PH, we appreciate your work.
We are dealing with a fundamental issue of the origin of our rights. We believe that rights are self-evident. Here it is stated rights come from a supreme being, which implies other than ourselves, and even perhaps some entity to which we owe some duty.
I find it irreconcilable.
It would be helpful to discuss compromise on wording describing possible derivatives of rights specifically to encourage more participation from the atheist.agnostic perspective.
Everything comes from god, so the statement ‘rights come from god’ is not particularly revealing. In fact it could be interpreted as patronizing.
What I find discouraging is that those who have expressed an initiative to break the hold of religious institutions on our political institutions will react negatively to the statement that rights come from god. As long as this language is included in a summary of our Constitution, it will be summarily rejected based solely on the premise that some believe there is no god. The ‘halo effect’, the memetic… do you see me now?
I find an advantage likely exists in development of a more neutral observation. It will invite more participation from atheists, and it allows room for those who believe in god and for those who believe in some higher power.

1. I can not compromise on matters of Principle. However, I have pointed out – for the benefit of the non-theists – the concept of “Natural Law”. And at the top of my website on the right side, just under the cheetah, I pay my respects to Ayn Rand. She has had a profound influence on me.
Christian theists (such as I) see God’s Laws as woven into the Fabric of Reality. These laws govern physics, chemistry, biology, logic, morality, economics, civics, etc. Our duty to God and to man requires that we obey these laws. And consider: What happens when you violate the laws of physics? The bridge you designed falls down! What happens when you violate the laws of economics? Your economy collapses!
Theists believe that God wrote these laws.
Ayn Rand believed in essentially the identical set of laws – and also thought they were woven into the Fabric of Reality. And that rational man obeyed these laws.
So this is why Dagney Taggert and I could be good friends.
2. Non-theists may object – but the historical fact is that our Founders saw rights as being bestowed by the Creator God. Not only is that what they said the 2nd para of The Declaration of Independence, they also said the purpose of civil government is to secure the rights GOD gave us. So the whole purpose of civil government – in their eyes – is to fulfill the theological one of securing Rights God gave us.
Even so, non-theists may refer to these rights as “natural rights” – that would be true.
3. It is extremely important that we understand, explain, and trumpet the hallowed status and transcendent origin of our Rights – whether as having their origin in GOD or as somehow “naturally” woven into the Fabric of Reality.
Contrast that with the view of such underminers as Michael Farris who shows, with his so-called “Parental Rights Amendment”, a movement towards the UN model where “rights” are seen as privileges granted by the States, regulated by the State, and revoked at the will of the State.
C.S. Lewis wrote a small book, “The Abolition of Man”, which contains an Appendix where he shows that the “Natural Laws” of morality have been recognized and respected in ancient cultures outside of the Judeo-Christian world.

You can be the judge of it. It does not help me personally because without effort I consider these alternatives as well. Here I provide example of what I face in other forums:
“You lost me with the opening sentence. The Constitution is man’s law, period. It has absolutely nothing to do with GOD, weather you’re a believer or not.”
The anonymous comment is a simple example of how this article will be rejected, and it is a direct result of the ‘halo effect’. This is the foundation of my concern that we need to tweak this assertion. It is however your work, it is extremely important, and I am participating as a student. You are the teacher.
If you desire to broaden the scope of your audience, it is my belief that this topic is of utmost importance.

Well, I must tell the Truth.
And even if I were an atheist, how could I deny that The Declaration of Independence says that Rights come from God, and that the purpose of government is to secure these rights?
That’s what it says! One may disagree with the Statement – but that is the Statement our Founders made.
And also remember: It is impossible to have an intelligent discussion with some people.

I laugh to myself only out of frustration. If you were an atheist, you would know how to deny it. You are not an atheist, you are a logician.
I wrote my paper on the Secessionists’ Creed to exemplify my perspective on the Declaration of Independence.
Nothing is impossible.
