  1. What good is it to have a Constitutional Convention when the people have yet to demonstrate the requisite courage to either understand or enforce the current Constitution?

  2. If an Article V convention is so bad why did the founders place it in the constitution?

    • It was a compromise. Like permitting slavery to continue. The Delegates wanted ALL the Delegates to sign. 3 of them (George Mason, Mr. Gerry, and Mr. Randolph) wanted a convention to propose amendments. That provision seems to have been put in to pacify those 3. But it didn’t work. Those 3 still refused to sign the Constitution. See James Madison’s entry for September 17, 1787 in Madison’s Journal. • Perhaps someone in your area in Missouri will put on an event like this one. I spoke at the Capitol Building in Missouri this past April.

To my knowledge, no one will be streaming it live. We are technically challenged.

  4. Any article V convention is an error of unimaginable consequences in these days in history. The founders knew exactly what they were doing when they wrote the Constitution and Bill of Rights. Because there are too many factions arising in America today, it would be near impossible to control an article V convention and more than likely it would produce something akin to a bloody nightmare. The Constitution of the United States of America is not a living document as some try to say, that should be played with on a whim. Nay, the Constitution of the United States of American is a document that is carved in stone just like the Ten Commandments, and should continue to be lived up too in the founders Ideals. Read the Federalist papers written by James Madison, John Jay and Alexander Hamilton. It would be a miracle if something as simple and all encompassing as the Constitution were to come out of an Article V Convention.

  7. I can not attend the meeting and discussion. However, in my opinion I stand with Publius. I do not believe the Constitution needs changes. It just needs to be careful read as written and followed accurately instead of being interpreted against our whims and desires of the moment!!!!!!!!
